No. This is yet another flawed attempt to counter piracy. What will happened is that paying customers will start to wonder why they should continue to pay for this garbage instead of reverting to piracy
- Gigachad 4y agoThis reminds me of the disastrous SimCity release which required a constant connection but had servers so bad you’d get kicked out regularly. And you had to sit in a queue waiting for a slot to play your single player game. EA claimed this was necessary as the servers were running complex AI required for the game to run. After a few months the pirate version came out that did full offline play.
- red-iron-pine 4y agoWhich also proved it didn't have jack for AI. But man that would be a trip, wouldn't it? You offload a lot of the simulation part to an AI algo in someone's cloud and it generates its own patterns, people, traffic, weather. Occasionally a little emergent behavior where a random citizen becomes a PITA for your city hall, etc.
- aliqot 4y agoCurious why that AI claim never found its way to court, if true.
- hulitu 4y agoEA is a parody of a company. I will try to avoid them at all costs. Most of the time is spent updating Origin or EA and the game.
- scaredginger 4y agoWe may need some business model innovation here, like when multiplayer games all went free-to-play
