- bediger4000 4y agoNo surprise, the printer is an HP. I will never get a Canon again, and I'll think three times about buying an HP.
- latchkey 4y agoI just bought a Brother HL-L3270CDW and not an HP printer expressly because of this cartridge extortion crap. $300 for a 'laser' printer is fantastic and the quality is great. Setting it up was super easy. Only thing is that the printer has a giant footprint.
- rekabis 4y agoHas anyone gotten around to cracking HP firmware in the same way that John Deere firmware is being cracked?
- fwlr 4y agoSomething I was surprised to learn about printers the other day: almost all home or office printers will not do what’s called “full bleed” printing, where the image or document is printed right to the edges of the paper. This feature is arbitrarily reserved for commercial high-end printers, with all other printers being required to keep a margin of unprinted paper around the edges (usually a few mm). There’s no technical reason for the restriction either, since the office printer/copier we have is more than happy to do full-bleed printing in exactly one scenario: printing color A3 pages from a scanned original A3 page. It can do it, but it’s programmed not to in the general case. You have to pay extra for a machine that doesn’t have that artificial limitation.
