I wouldn't call the experience bad but I had a brief stint with some sort of weird receptionist role right out of high school (had to take a gap year due to logistics) and I had a similar reaction to seeing how everyone around me at work lived. I think it fundamentally broke something inside of me and was a critical experience in my conclusion that human lives are not really inherently valuable.
