Guinness World Record for longest line-of-sight photograph
- dTal 4y ago443 kilometers? That's nothing, I took a picture of Jupiter with my phone through a telescope once. In all seriousness, this is super cool. But what are the rules? Same planet only I assume. I guess both your feet and the subject have to be on the ground, or photos of/from the ISS would count. Can you use a tripod? How tall can the tripod be? What does it mean to have a "picture" of something? Clean outline, a darkened patch in the frame? Any light-mediated causal chain between object and subject? What wavelengths are allowed? I assume visible only, but near-IR is visible in very dark light (and scatters less in atmosphere). Can you use flash? If I shine a laser at a distant retroreflector and get anything back, does that count? So MANY potential loopholes...
- buffington 4y agoI'm confused. How can this be the record? I took a picture of the moon once - that's a fair amount further than 443 kilometers.
