Is there a way I can make 'typing into the address bar' search DDG by default? If I can get this set up, then I'm fully switched.

- mike-cardwell 15y agoWhich browser? In Firefox I do this by going to about:config, and setting "keyword.URL" to: https://duckduckgo.com/?kh=1&kg=p&k1=-1&kp=-1&kl=uk-en&q= https://duckduckgo.com/?kh=1&kg=p&k1=-1&kp=-1... You might want to fiddle with the parameters though. For example, I'm specifying that my country is the UK in the above URL
- wgx 15y agoNice, thanks. Also UK here.
- epi0Bauqu 15y agoSure, depends on your browser: http://help.duckduckgo.com/customer/portal/articles/216425-browsers http://help.duckduckgo.com/customer/portal/articles/216425-b...
- wgx 15y agoAh great - thank you! :)
- tansey 15y agoNot to be too harsh here, but wouldn't you want that URL to be a little bit better optimized for search engines? Just look at the results for "how to make duckduckgo my default search engine": https://duckduckgo.com/?q=how+to+make+duckduckgo+my+default+search+engine https://duckduckgo.com/?q=how+to+make+duckduckgo+my+default+...
- epi0Bauqu 15y agoYes, probably! This is how it is coming out of assistly, but duly noted.
- quanticle 15y agoFor Firefox, there's a search plugin (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/duck-duck-go-search-plugin/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/duck-duck-go-...) that adds DuckDuckGo to the list of search providers. For Chrome, it appears to be a little more complicated. You can use DuckDuckGo for searches, but it doesn't look like you can alter the source for URL suggestions. Details on how to use DuckDuckGo as Chrome's search provider are here: http://ddgg.nfriedly.com/#oneclick http://ddgg.nfriedly.com/#oneclick.
