The workplace anti-harrassment training I am engaging in the very moment is teaching against the discrimination _against_ protected classes. Although it's saying to always only hire and promote the best candidates, there is no injunction against discriminating _for_ protected classes. Mathematically, that is however disciminating _on the basis of the category_, which is definitely implied. Though I think straight white males are the only class that won't trump any others.
