I do agree with the article author on the question of API, and additionally would demand a way to script the tool so that it can ping other tools in my chain. So, as it is, I'd not really think of this as a "Tool for Thought", just a fancy scrapbook.
You're right. That's something I'm definitely missing. But they are working on a knowledge graph implementation, so I think the product is still evolving.
For "Tool for thought", mymind does it very well to to surface photos, videos, colors, anything that is visual. A problem I had with others is, that it's very text heavy and they lack surfacing visual media.
