Ask HN: Why is Twitter removing support for third-party clients?

  Because the clients do not show ads, and Twitter's revenue largely comes from ads. (The next question you could ask is why did they not provide some ad-included API for the third-party clients but presumably that didn't seem to be worth it.)

    makes sense. most big companies today make revenue off of ads.
