Black Americans are also more likely to be incarcerated, and are subject to racial profiling by law enforcement. These disparities are not the result of individual actions, but are instead the result of systemic factors such as redlining, employment discrimination, and the criminal justice system. Edit: As of 2019, black adults were 5.5 times more likely to be incarcerated than white adults. There were 2,221,400 black adults in the U.S. incarcerated, compared to 1,254,800 white adults.
