Is flying a right?
- exabrial 4y agoI mean, breathing or eating isn't listed in the constitution... are those rights?
- Hamuko 4y agoWould the "right to eat" also mean the "right to food"?
- notch898a 4y agoPositive right to be given food is different than negative right to not be stopped from obtaining food. Blocking someone from riding in a common carrier ordinarily open to the public falls under the "negative right" which is the variety of rights usually ascribed.
- simple-thoughts 4y agoYes, freedom of movement is a human right.
- Hamuko 4y agoI feel like people have tried to use this as justification for operating a motor vehicle without a government-mandated license without much success.
- notch898a 4y agoFalse equivalence. The no-fly is about boarding the airplane at all, not operating it. And AFAIK there are only the narrowest of methods of preventing someone from riding in a vehicle, almost assuredly associated with criminal proceedings. And, even if you don't have a license to drive it's illegal for them to even check unless there is RAS you've committed a crime to initiate a stop. Meanwhile TSA searches you on no RAS.
- mitthrowaway2 4y agoDo you need a passenger's license to board a car?
- naasking 4y agoAren't freedom of association and trade rights? Isn't the government restricting the airline's freedom to associate and offer services to any customer?
