I got 2 years of contracting at £525 a day (plus VAT) because I was one of the few people all of the traders, developers and managers could communicate with at a Tier 1 bank. Some refused to talk to each other over various disagreements, some just couldn't communicate with anyone outside their specialty.
- MaKey 4y agoCongratulations! Does the UK have some tax benefits for contractors? I'm asking because sometimes my employer (a DevOps / Cloud consultancy) gets contacted by UK recruiters and with offers around 600 Euro per day they might get a fresh junior consultant here if they are lucky, but they are always looking for someone with 3-5 years of experience.
- LatteLazy 4y agoThanks! No, quite the opposite unfortunately. The taxes are higher and you're not eligible for anything a normal employee would be (covid payments, state pension etc)... The government are gradually outlawing the process now (IR35 pushes the tax rate up to about 80%). Back in the 80s, it was apparently an excellent deal but not anymore... Still, it's good money if you can find a role.
