Are mobile phone numbers checked for security at airport?
- jacknobody 4y agoWhat kind of security check do you have in mind?
- oriettaxx 4y agoI mean basically the phone number: or any check that does not involve touching a mobile phone
- oriettaxx 4y agoto be more clear: I suppose it is pretty easy to get the list of mobile phone's numbers that are present inside an airport (easy for authorized entities, I mean): with that least, as a minimum, I guess I can check if those numbers have whatsapp, telegram, whatever and search if they share any info; there is maybe a database of mobile numbers that may be checked.... so, does it make any difference, as regard as privacy, to have the mobile ON or OFF inside an airport?
- elmerfud 4y agoI'll preface my answer by saying I'm US citizen, and a frequent flyer both domestic and international and I have a KTN. I always decline face check-in for international flights. I've never had my phone checked at an airport other than running it through the imaging scanner. Airlines do request telephone contact info but never have I had security request it. As a matter what of fact I use my home telephone number for airline contact. The only time I've had electronics checked was a flight home from Bogota. It was a last minute rebooking and their was a extra gate check (unlike the normal passenger gate check) and they simply wanted to see that it powered on.
