On desktop, main changes I see are the persistent header and the sidebar. Definitely agree that it's worse, but only marginally so.

  Persistent headers are very distracting for me. Glad they are not using them.

    Same. Oddly enough, given that, the static sidebar in the new official doesn't bother me at all.
