One could use adb and RethinkDNS to freeze or firewall connections and some processes, but it's a lot of work and a poor experience.
- ignoramous 4y agordns dev here Do you mean to say using firewall apps in general is cumbersome or just rdns in particular? If so, I'm interested in your inputs on what's not right, and if you have any inputs on how it can be improved? Thanks (:
- smnrg 4y agordns is an awesome app, I am unsure why it’s not more widespread or more often mentioned here. You do great work, truly. The only regret with rdns is that it’s either using that, or a VPN—from how I understand it. The cumbersome part is the entire process of adb+whatever solution to mitigate an opaque firmware calling home everywhere across the oceans at any given time. I like some BOOX devices, but I find them very stressful to trust, and rdns helps.

We're fixing up our network stack to shoulder in WireGuard; should land in a month or two. With that, one would be able to upstream connections to any WireGuard endpoint: https://github.com/celzero/rethink-app/issues/52 https://github.com/celzero/rethink-app/issues/52 > rdns is an awesome app, I am unsure why it’s not more widespread Thanks for your kind words. There may be other reasons, but the surprising one is (going from what we see on other forums and emails that we get), folks are reluctant to trust a security / privacy product that's made by Indians.
