I'm highly sympathetic to the cause of FIRE and Greg Lukianoff, in part because of his book with Jonathan Haidt, but I'd be pretty disappointed if they started to use poorly reported hate-bait stories as a way to support their mission and generate outrage. I think it's possible to hold oneself to a higher standard and not play the outrage game by falling for hoaxes. At least in my eyes they would get much more credibility. But perhaps that's just not the world we live in anymore, and if you don't generate outrage hateclicks, you might as well give up. We can do better than this whole got-em-advocacy regardless of what side you care for.
