Why is Tesla FSD afraid of the dark?
- clouddrover 4y agoMissing hardware doesn't inspire confidence. You probably won't get Hardware 4 either: https://www.thedrive.com/news/tesla-cybertruck-gets-new-self-driving-computer-that-might-not-be-retrofit-to-other-evs https://www.thedrive.com/news/tesla-cybertruck-gets-new-self... Full self-driving hasn't happened. At this point Tesla should refund everyone's FSD money.

- pifm_guy 4y agoFSD actually isn't a big part of what Tesla sells. They have $1B set aside from sales revenues of the FSD option to pay for implementation. That sounds like a big number, but it's less than the revenue of 2 days car production.
- clouddrover 4y agoGood, then there's no reason to rip people off in the meantime. Refund the money now and only charge customers money if and when they deliver actual factual full self-driving. Tesla backed themselves into this corner. They have lied about the state of full self-driving for years and they have failed to deliver on their own self imposed deadlines. Teslas don't even do full self-parking, nevermind full self-driving: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsb2XBAIWyA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsb2XBAIWyA Tesla admits they have failed to deliver (as an attempt to avoid being done for fraud): https://electrek.co/2022/12/07/tesla-self-driving-claims-failure-realize-long-term-aspirational-goal-not-fraud/ https://electrek.co/2022/12/07/tesla-self-driving-claims-fai... https://electrek.co/2022/12/12/tesla-ordered-upgrade-self-driving-computer-for-free-false-advertising/ https://electrek.co/2022/12/12/tesla-ordered-upgrade-self-dr... So, now that Tesla has done the hard thing of admitting to their failure, they can do the easy thing of returning the money.
- rep_movsd 4y agoYou committed financial suicide by believing a conman
- hgsgm 4y agoI thought FSD != Autopilot
- Reubend 4y agoIt's worth pointing out and placing IR lighting in front of yourself could damage your vision. https://ehs.lbl.gov/resource/documents/radiation-protection/non-ionizing-radiation/light-and-infrared-radiation/ https://ehs.lbl.gov/resource/documents/radiation-protection/... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3116568/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3116568/
- rep_movsd 4y ago"Driver assist" not FSD
- brookst 4y agoAlternatively you could mount a 40w 6500k LED fixture in that same spot to replicate the experience oncoming drivers have when your FSD system keeps brights on all the time ;)
- mcolyer 4y agoHah - fair point :).
- Waterluvian 4y agoI never really realized it until I watched the Technology Connections video about headlights, but now I notice it all the time: improper use of high beams or improperly aimed headlights are horribly selfish and dangerous for others. I’m loving some of the tech there is to shape the beam based on oncoming vehicles. But even just being in front of a car with headlights aiming right into your cabin is terrible.
- amalgamated_inc 4y agoLol that's pretty... silly of Tesla :)
