Amazon warns employees not to share confidential information with ChatGPT
- adriancr 4y agoIsn't that a fireable offense?, isn't it a sufficient deterrent?, detect leak, instant fire, doesn't matter who it was. Also, if they sue for damages and/or they disclose reason for firing to future possible employers, then career in field is rightfully damaged.
- uptownfunk 4y agoGood luck with that!
- sharemywin 4y agoI've been wondering about this too. chatbots should have a private switch. where they're contractually obligated to delete the information as soon as it's sent.
- brianjking 4y agoFirst off, ChatGPT is currently free. Assuming you are using it, you are becoming part of the product.
- sharemywin 4y agoI think they're offering a paid version. which goes along way toward the alignment problem with advertising. you want to keep making my $40 offer a better bot. The question is do you as a company turn away the opportunity to incorporate ads into the products. (paid for advice) chatbot as a service is a good business model, but free chatbot with subtle ads is a way bigger opportunity.
- generj 4y agoProbably with some sort of exception for certain things. I don’t want a chatbot unable to reveal someone confessing to murder for example.
- autoexec 4y agoI wouldn't trust it. What is a contract with a bot? Who will hold it accountable and how?
- sharemywin 4y agothat's true for all the internet/cloud providers. I'm not sure how you enforce transparency. That's one of the problems with private marketplaces( and service providers) too.
- fragmede 4y agoI mean, that's a business model for OpenAI. charge business thru the nose to host their own and be able to give it confidential information.
- sharemywin 4y agosometimes it's possible to have it make a program that does what you want. instead of going through our file structure I had it built a program to do it
- sschueller 4y agoI thought chatGPT can't learn new things. So anything you tell it, it will forget? If you ask it, it will tell you it can't be trained or learn new things.
- brianjking 4y agoNo, not at all. It said it's not trained on new data (yet). It does not say it cannot learn or will not learn. Furthermore, https://help.openai.com/en/articles/6783457-chatgpt-faq https://help.openai.com/en/articles/6783457-chatgpt-faq has the AUP & TOS pretty clearly laid out.
- lapink 4y agoOpen AI is logging everything for future training. I don’t think Open AI employees actively look at the logged data, but they likely have people rate the exchanges or suggest replies, so that could be a source of leaks. Besides in 6 months / 1 year, when an updated version is released, Chat GPT might very well spit out some private info information.
- __derek__ 4y agoThat kind of review caused a stir for Apple and Amazon, leading both to curtail the practice.[1] [1]: https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2019/08/02/apple-says-its-contractors-will-stop-listening-users-through-siri/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2019/08/02/apple-s...
- wcoenen 4y agoOpenAI will store all your conversations with ChatGPT. We know this because those conversations appear on the left-hand side of the website where you interact with ChatGPT...
- rasz 4y agoEverything you enter into chatGPT is logged. https://openai.com/privacy/ https://openai.com/privacy/
