This mostly focuses on culture and internal processes, and they seem bad.
But for me, the proof is in the pudding. Valve has failed to ship any successful new games for over a decade. That in itself is damning.
Dota was a sequel to an IP Valve bought and was released over 10 years ago. Newer games like Artifact and Underlords (also bought) flopped. Whatever the culture is, it fails to ship anything. The key exception is the Steam Deck, but that is not a game.
Valve seems to just be cruising on Steam revenue.
- Ekaros 4y agoDidn't they launch Half-Life: Alyx in 2020? Which seem to review decently. Though it is niche product due to requiring VR setup.
