Ask HN: Can Hackernews admins see edit history of a comment?
- detaro 4y agohttps://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html > Please don't post on HN to ask or tell us something. Send it to hn@ycombinator.com.
- dangwhy 4y agoI am not asking "us" in that sentence though. I am not sure admins will be responding to random questions like mine if i email the question to them.
- TowerTall 4y agoYes, they will.
- detaro 4y agomore likely than if you post the question ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- alister 4y agoBut it's an interesting question that probably a bunch of us would like to know the answer to, so posting it seems reasonable to me. (Granted, one person could email to ask and then do a "Tell HN".)
- hakanderyal 4y agoThere haven't been an email I've sent to HN that haven't gotten a reply.
- dangwhy 4y agook I don't want to reveal my identity. I'll try creating a fake id email and emailing that address. Also is comment history visibility private info that can't be answered publicly ?
- detaro 4y agoThe point is that emailing is something that ends up somewhere they will see it. Random posts just ... don't.
- hakanderyal 4y agoNo idea. The email is just their preferred communication method. They answer questions about HN in threads time to time, but email is your best bet.
- fIREpOK 4y agoI don't know but they do edit comments and posts made by other users though (They usually indicate that fact when it happens, but not all the time).
- andrewstuart 4y agoI often edit my comments to try to make them less negative or controversial. I often delete them for the same reasons.
