- benj111 4y agoA link to a 5 word comment isn't particularly helpful. Especially when they can see the comment on the screen (on a phone) already.
- oblio 4y agoComments drift away.

- dspillett 4y agoI'm not sure a short sentence, stating a preference as a global best practise without further explanation/reference, counts as evaluation and commentary. > you nerds This shows the sort of lack in interpersonal skills that us nerds are often associated with. Are you sure you aren't one of us? :)

- 2h 4y agonot open source
- oblio 4y agoIt's just someone's hobby editor...
- skissane 4y agoIf it is just a hobby, why not open source it? I know of one “freeware” package whose author unexpectedly died. His wife didn’t know the password to his computer so now the source is lost forever.

- Narishma 4y agoSo?
- yjftsjthsd-h 4y agoSo, some of us who have been burned enough times are averse to proprietary software and would try to avoid using anything that we can't see the code to.
- tomxor 4y agoYeah, this is the first thing I look for in any potential tool I might use for coding especially. It also indicates likely platform independence since it's users are more likely to port it around, obviously one of VIs strong points.
- itsthecourier 4y agoDefault insert mode sounds like a good idea
- residualmind 4y agohey
- alexambarch 4y agoI didn't exactly understand this feature. Usually when I'm opening a file, the chances that my cursor is already where I want it and I can just start typing is next to zero.
- BaseballPhysics 4y agoReally? When I open a file, nine times out of ten I'm modifying it in some specific location that's definitely not the start of the file, and the first thing I need to do is navigate, which is what Normal mode is for (among other things). About the only time I fire up an editor and face a blank file is when I'm writing prose, which is definitely not the majority of time I'm spending in Vi/Vim.
- hestefisk 4y agoNice WordPerfect 5.11 / Turbo Pascal vibe. I’ll try it out.
