India police detain students gathered to watch BBC documentary on Modi
- akomtu 4y agoModi's basically acknowledged that this BBC stuff is a big deal. Now I feel compelled to watch it.

- LightHugger 4y agoYou go from "raises question" to a conclusion "not good bedfellows". You can just say you don't like communism/marxism. But no, being communist or marxist or whatever does not justify censorship.
- b112 4y agoAs I specifically said censorship is wrong, and no one said communism justifies it, not sure what you're driving at.
- the_only_law 4y agoNo you said censorship wrong … but …
- b112 4y agoAs in, 'but you don't want to be seen as a communist, when fighting for freedom'. Communists are the ones that suppress individual freedoms, such as using censorship, for the "greater good" of "all", which quickly morphs from "the people" to "the state" then to "dear leader". So yes, censorship is bad, which is why you don't want the help of communists in fighting it. They just want to replace it with their own. One should be very wary of any communist movement fighting to "free" people.

- spoils19 4y agoThis is why I'm glad we have the 2nd amendment. It levels the playing field for individual citizens vs. the government.
- knolax 4y agoIndia has full on communist guerilla groups fighting the modi government with no 2nd amendment. In the past 200 odd years of "gun rights", Americans have never been able to overthrow the same ruling that founded this country despite multiple attempts with both legitimate and illegitimate grievances.
- Kye 4y agoNot really. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulford_Act https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulford_Act >> "The Mulford Act was a 1967 California bill that prohibited public carrying of loaded firearms without a permit.[2] Named after Republican assemblyman Don Mulford, and signed into law by governor of California Ronald Reagan, the bill was crafted with the goal of disarming members of the Black Panther Party who were conducting armed patrols of Oakland neighborhoods, in what would later be termed copwatching." Permitting, of course, was notoriously inequal along lines of segregation like most things then and many things still today. There are so many things happening right now that these armed defenders of rights should be showing up for that they aren't. Leftist gun owners showing up to protect libraries is about it.
- ss108 4y agoLol no, random groups of ppl with assault rifles would not be able to do anything against the US military if it came doen to it.
- spoils19 4y agoWhat's an "assault rifle"?

- knolax 4y agoThe BBC is accusing Modi of committing genocide in an incident that started with the other side burning 59 pilgrims to death. India is right to block what is a naked piece of propaganda made a foreign state.
- 0xbeefeed 4y agoOk Mr. Bhakt
- knolax 4y agoYou live in a democracy. If you hate your government organize against it. Siding with foreign agitators only makes you look like a neoliberal pawn and delegitimizes your position.
- 0xbeefeed 4y agoYou also have a brain. You can watch the documentary even if it is propaganda and draw your own conclusions.
- alloutblitz2 4y agoBBC does a significant amount of research and investigation before releasing these types of documentaries - to protect their journalistic integrity. You labeling it a propaganda means that you're probably deflecting (borderline projecting your thoughts).
- knolax 4y agoIt's foreign state media that's been caught falsifying footage and known to have intelligence assets from both the UK and US working there. Even British people occasionally complain about partisanship. You can call me as many names and grandstand about their nonexistent "journalistic integrity". Doesn't change the facts.
