The weaponised SUV set to terrify America’s streets
- LinuxBender 4y agoInteresting I guess but several of the features would be illegal in all 50 of the United States. A "fix-it" ticket would mean returning the vehicle to the manufacturer to have the features removed and providing proof to the court. Using some of those features would be serious moving violations and the vehicle would likely be impounded. If kept in storage and well maintained it might be useful after some type of SHTF apocalypse. One could probably use it off road but there are significantly better off road vehicles for much less money.

- LinuxBender 4y agoLike mad Max? Exactly, it won't last long. That's why I would have something much cheaper, simpler and many more of them along with a lot of spare parts, oil, fuel and ensure I know how to fix nearly everything on it. For the price of that truck one could instead get like 8 side-by-sides or sand-rails and enough parts to rebuild each one several times. Today one can have several 500 or 1000 gallon tanks and subscribe to a fleet fuel service to keep them topped off. It's much cheaper than commercial gas stations. Same for oil, it's cheaper to buy drums of oil. Or waterworld I suppose buy a couple less side-by-sides and get 2 large aluminum boats with some good fishing gear and get some maritime training and learn star navigation assuming one can still see the sky at night. Why 2 boats? It's a rule in some fishing villages. Things will go wrong. Or terminator That's M3GAN [1], everyone will have one and some kid will cloud-hack them into becoming the Terminator. I do not have a practical answer for that other than to not buy a M3GAN and have an incredible M3GAN proof bunker.
