The real headline here is: this guy was administering saline shots to children instead of Covid-19 vaccines.
The paper cards where a disaster, at least the EU has electronic records. The U.S. govt is also to blame for this fraud.
There could of been a chain of integrity between the shot you got and your identity.
For example, I got my shot at a pharmacy. There is no way for me to verify that shot was legitimate and not tampered in distribution or by the pharmacist. I should be able to track the provenance of my shot all the way to the manufacturer and the chemical components that went into it.
- latchkey 4y agoSome states (California) did get electronic records, which were fed into the system through the pharmacies... https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/ https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/ This, of course is done on a state-by-state basis because that's how we split up healthcare in the US. Even with tracking, there is still no guarantee that the person at the pharmacy gave you a correct shot. Maybe if they could scan the vial right in front of you, but who knows... that might be faked too. Even still... it was a race for time with a lot of complexities along the way (like the temperature requirements for the vials). Not sure I would have wanted to wait for them to get 3 bids and hire a contractor to build out some tool for this in "record time".
