  The doomsday clock was at 17 minutes to midnight during the Cuban Missile Crisis and is at 90 seconds today. The idea that the risk of nuclear war today is more than 10x the risk it was at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis (when the entire world understood that 50 million people could very easily be killed in the next 24-48 hours, an outcome that the world just barely avoided) is simply nonsense. The scale is clearly meaningless at this point.
