Trying out self-hosting is almost as addictive as trying out note managers :-)
Anyway, here's my current setup:
- Hetzner Cloud VPS -- https://www.hetzner.com/cloud https://www.hetzner.com/cloud -- I use it for a public website - https://vlad.studio/ https://vlad.studio/ - otherwise I'd get the cheapest option); 4€/mo
- 1Tb Hetzner Storage -- https://www.hetzner.com/storage/storage-box https://www.hetzner.com/storage/storage-box -- mounted as an external drive to the server above; € 3.81
- Filerun -- https://www.filerun.com/ https://www.filerun.com/ -- used as web interface and file manager, instead of NextCloud. I wanted to like NextCloud, but couldn't. Filerun looks nice. It is not as complex .
- Various mobile Nextcloud-compatible apps connect to my Filerun instance. I'm not happy with this part of setup yet.
- raybb 4y agoI also found NextCloud UI for filemanagement to be rough. I have opted to use Mountain Duck and am quite happy with how it works. It's definitely much faster and more reliable for uploading.
- jtode 4y agoSo this filerun, I looked at the demo page and it seems nice for the file storage aspects, and you say it can run any Nextcloud plugins? So it would be able to do all the little services like to do and grocery lists, calendar, some sort of office stuff, that kinda thing?
- vladstudio 4y agoCannot say, unfortunately - I do not use any of these plugins.
