SIM Swap Scams: How to Protect Yourself (2019)
- friendlyHornet 4y agoIt's unbelievable that we are in 2023 and this stuff still goes on. I recently had to contact my cellular provider's customer service and the agent "authenticated" my identity by asking for my birthday. After that he proceeded to do everything I asked, including discussing private info This article is from 2019, but sim swapping has been an issue discussed in mainstream tech media for more than a decade. All that I have seen change is some countries requiring cellular providers to ask for legal identity documents, which didn't solve the problem, only made it harder to be private What annoys me more is that till this day, some websites only provide 2FA with a phone number and no other option
