Thank you for writing that down so nicely. I was imagining you meant something like this but I'm still grateful you made it explicit. I guess the reason I'm touchy about the topic is that, given that I am not a doctor, I have much more experience with encountering idiot doctors than idiot patients. This makes my fear of being patronizingly shut down for "reading things on the internet" much more prominent.
