"Another interesting one is technology. Japan got trapped in the 90s, the fax era, and it is difficult to change." I believe that their mindset and stance towards technology is simply different. Japan had a history of "gadget technology", which was revolutional in the 90's before the Internet became ubiquious. I am guessing that they (myself included) were dissapointed in the direction technological advances went. Their vision maybe didn't happen, but that doesn't make it wrong, or that the current technological trends are right.
