Off topic, but I’m surprised Slashdot is still alive. Have not heard of it for a few years.

The banner it gave me made me laugh: "Do you develop on GitHub? You can keep using GitHub but automatically sync your GitHub releases to SourceForge quickly and easily with this tool so your projects have a backup location, and get your project in front of SourceForge's nearly 30 million monthly users. It takes less than a minute. Get new users downloading your project releases today!" SourceForge: from de-facto standard open source tooling to "please allow us to mirror your GitHub".

That's what happens when you make questionable moves and have M$ as a competitor.

GitHub ate SourceForge's pie long before Microsoft bought it. The questionable moves also came long after the pie had been eaten.
