- TacticalCoder 4y agoIt's incredible how this article is trying to portrait her as a victim who just happened to share the apartment of her partner who, himself, just happened to hold bags of cash for someone else. And then, by chance, that poor innocent woman quickly handed a duffel bag full of cash to her father. I call bullshit: you don't stumble, by chance, on duffel bags full of cash for a seven digits sum in your appartment and then realize something shady is going on. She's deep in it, just as her husband is. She at the very least fully knew and she likely was part of it. That's not journalism from spiegel.de. I wonder how much the "journalist" got in cash to write such an article. P.S: we're also to believe that it's a pure coincidence that that woman was lecturing the European Parliament about how "some believe those saying good thing about Qatar are corrupt people" and things like that... When she would be an innocent victim happening to be the one where the corruption money is located? 100% bullshit article.
- alephnerd 4y agoI believe Der Speigel has a pro-SPD bias (German commentators, please fact check this for me - my Deutsch is a bit weak), and the SPD is a member of the same European Parliament coalition that is in the middle of Qatargate [0][1]. There is an interesting article in Politico EU about the Qatar-Germany nexus [2], but it should be noted that Axel Springer, the owner of Politico EU does have an anti-SPD bias which may play a role as well, but I am not sure if this bias has rubbed into Politico EU. - somedude895 4y agoThey were also recently exposed for publishing made up sob stories about Syrian refugees in Greece: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claas_Relotius https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claas_Relotius They have a clear political bias and if a story fits their narrative they'll throw journalistic standards overboard.
