150k headcount reduction ? Are they crazy?

- hestefisk 4y agoI think he meant reduce headcount to 150K, which would be approx 20% reduction. I hope this guy sleeps well at night.
- meindnoch 4y agoto 150k not by 150k
- doikor 4y agoReduction to 150k. So around 38k reduction (so roughly 25k in addition to the already announced 12k)
- scotty79 4y agoWhy did Alphabet acquired 30k employees in 2022? Why 100k over last 5 years? What do those people do? What marvels Google is working on?
- sarchertech 4y agoAlphabet is actually working on some marvels. But mostly trying to find another cash printing machine before their current one runs out.
- ysopex 4y agoThey're giving the appearance that they're working on marvels. Given the amount of raw human intelligence they've hired over the years and the profoundly underwhelming output of the organization it's pretty clear it's was an illusion to trap investors.
- sarchertech 4y agoMaybe they’re bad at, or maybe the problems are just hard. Given the output of every other company tackling self driving cars, for example, I think there’s some evidence it’s the latter. An “illusion to trap investors” seems like a big leap without any real evidence to support it.
- refurb 4y agoReduction to 150,000. Which is about 20% versus the 10% announced.
