Are these layoffs of tecnical jobs?

I’ve read somewhere else that most are sales jobs that happen to be in the tech sector.

From my very limited view, I've seen mostly recruiters, managers, and HR specialists (but not generalists) announcing that they had been laid off. Haven't seen anyone whose job is primarily technical get laid off, though I'm sure it's happening some. Large lay offs are a good way to clean out across the board the people who you were planning on putting on a PIP or are already on one.
