About 3k tech employees now being fired a day on average in January
- MDMrkt 4y agoAre these layoffs of tecnical jobs?
- culopatin 4y agoI’ve read somewhere else that most are sales jobs that happen to be in the tech sector.
- Mountain_Skies 4y agoFrom my very limited view, I've seen mostly recruiters, managers, and HR specialists (but not generalists) announcing that they had been laid off. Haven't seen anyone whose job is primarily technical get laid off, though I'm sure it's happening some. Large lay offs are a good way to clean out across the board the people who you were planning on putting on a PIP or are already on one.
- karmakaze 4y ago> Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella last week said the company will be "making changes that will result in the reduction of our overall workforce by 10,000 jobs through the end of FY23 Q3 (third quarter)". That doesn't seem to be a great way to go about it. Some may leave long before then because they're very good and get work easily. Others will stay and work less productively in fear throughout the year long until then.
