Fun weekend project: Testing a new Nvidia eGPU Switcher
- necovek 4y agoThe fact that one needs to log out and log back in turns me away from eGPUs as docking stations. If I ever have the time, I'd like to explore an offscreen rendering solution (Xvfb?), though obviously there's going to be a significant performance penalty to forward that to the actual X server rendering the output. Ideally, full screen apps would be able to simply use the external GPU without much fuss directly. I am sure I am totally misinformed about what's doable, but I'd like to learn what direction I can expect Linux support to develop to allow seamless transition of apps from GPU to GPU.
