- FiloSottile 4y agoAre you basing that assessment on any specific evidence? This article claim there is no video of the incident. Law enforcement in the US (and many other countries, including others where environmental protesters are often killed) has been know and documented to lie routinely, so is not a reliable source to take on face value.

A bullet from his gun was found in the state trooper's abdomen, and I find it extremely hard to believe that Teran shot a state trooper after being shot multiple times, especially given cops' tendencies to shoot until a target stops moving.
- acobster 4y agoThat still doesn't mean he shot first.
- Quillbert182 4y agoIf the police shot first, he would be dead before he shot the officer.
- woodruffw 4y agoWhy? The concept of a "shootout" is well-understood; there's no particular to reason to believe that a cop shooting first is guaranteed to hit their target.
- kcplate 4y agoIt doesn’t, but that doesn’t matter. You still don’t get an “automatic cops won’t shoot you back” pass if they fired first.
- acobster 4y ago> but they have produced no evidence for the claim
