Apparently people have forgotten the importance of a belt in the life of an impressionable child; particularly pernicious ones. I should know, I deal with them every day these days in my professional career that would have been best suited to learning the importance of an ass whipping to level-set expectations in life earlier than my having to do so. - kashunstva 4y ago> I deal with them every day these days in my professional career… How to explain counter-examples then? I have three children, two of whom are university graduates, successful, employed, living independently. The third is a high school student and is a highly accomplished violinist. Have I as a parent failed them, and have their schools failed them by never laying a hand on them in anger? Yes, children are impressionable. Physical assault leaves an impression. The message it imprints is authoritarian solutions to problems. Dominance plays, essentially.
