Hey, i know you probably didn't expect this to be at the top of HN and there's a lot of comments here. But I hear you. I largely feel similar about my PhD (even though I'm not as far a long). It's an isolating experience, but you don't have to do it alone. I think it's great you are taking steps for your mental health. Also, you don't need a PhD to enjoy life.
