Medvedev warns of nuclear war if Russia defeated in Ukraine
- anigbrowl 4y agoOh, it's Thursday already? I know that seems blase but this is basically buttressing Russia's ongoing propaganda narrative that it's facing an existential threat and had to pre-empt it by invading Ukraine. This bluff can be called at any time by a senior US or EU figure saying 'nobody wants to invade your junk country, just move your military back inside its own border and STFU.' Does the West want to see Putin weakened or gone, and Russia less powerful? Sure. Is there any appetite to actually seize Russian territory? Not outside of the community that plays Hearts of Iron 4.
- BMc2020 4y agoMy outsider opinion is that 99% of all the insiders know that this will all end without fireworks when a certain 70 year old dictator is removed from power.
- morpheos137 4y agoRussia has scant history of coups, Putin is widely popular, he is not a "dictator." Foreign Policy based on hopes and dreams and consuming one's own propaganda seldom works out well. Feel free to disagree but try using real arguments.
- slater 4y ago"He also said the military alliance and other Western defence leaders [...] should consider the risks of their policy." Maybe Russia should also consider the risks of their own stupidity re: their "special military operation"
- mensetmanusman 4y agoWhen Russian government officials are making videos where people are killed from their heads being sledgehammered, I think we are close to an isis like psychosis in their leadership because of their fear and stress level. Nukes are about as likely to go off as Trump winning in 2016.
