That seems really low, lots of older devices out there or samsung not updating?
- wkat4242 4y agoProbably a combination of factors. Samsung actually isn't so bad, they offer 4 updates on high end phones now (and I think 3 on cheaper ones) but don't forget: * Samsung is market leader in Android but far from the only vendor especially outside the US. Apple is far from #1 in most countries. * The mid range phones from Samsung do get new versions but it takes longer because they do the high-end ones first. And Samsung is slow anyway due to their major customization (not just the visual shell). I think it took 3 months after Android 13 release just for the first Samsung phone to get it. * The cheaper brands are huge in lower wage countries (including the ones that have the most population in the world) and many of those still have crap update policies. Even Sony which is more expensive than Samsung still offers only 2/3 updates! They're really bad for the price though they hardly influence the numbers because they're so marginal. * Most Androids don't auto update overnight like Apple's phones do. Hence many users decline it don't even notice the prompts.
