Cambrian Governance: The Internet Transition
- ggm 4y agoMike Lesk (author of UUCP) said filling a vacuum is always easier than pushing matter aside (apropos why UUCP took off so strongly) The idea that emergent behaviour in unicellular colonies hints at the emergence of rational governance structures begs the question, what do the priors think? I'm not seeing nation states, global corporates or the music industry gently going into that dark night... If governance we have feels a bit mindless, It would pay to remember it does have a mind, or an aggregation of minds at play. They are the archetypes of mentality which seeks power. It doesn't feel to me like we get a rational Cambrian governance which excludes them, and one which includes them will tend to concentration of power.
