When I was much younger, I had trouble understanding checkboxes - in particular the ones with an X in them because at the time I thought X means no. So I would assume checkboxes with an X meant that you were deselecting them.
Is it possible it's really all just what we're used to?
- kalleboo 4y agoThis was also a problem with the Playstation controller. The controller has ○ and × buttons, and in Japan "×" can mean no/incorrect and "○" can mean yes/correct, so in the menus you press ○ to confirm and × to deny. When they localized it for the west, they flipped the meaning so that × means yes as in "check the box" and ○ means no as in "zero" (like on a power switch with 1 and 0) So when you play games from another region, what controls you use in menus changes.
