Where is the energy coming from?
- torotonnato 4y agoFrom the magnetic field. The catch is that, to reload the gun, you have to do work at least equal to the final kinetic energy of the projectile. Realistically you have to account for energy losses like friction and collision inelasticity.
- Leszek 4y agoSame place any other distance-based potential energy (like gravity) comes from: being far away from the magnets -- and on repeated firings of a ball, from pulling it away from the magnets.
- MengerSponge 4y agoThe system isn't looping. Notice that it takes work to pull the accelerated ball out of the magnetic field after each shot. So I guess the answer is solar radiation -> food -> ATP -> magnets -> kinetic energy. It isn't particularly efficient :)
- akomtu 4y agoOn the magnetic field landscape, this structure looks like a steep slope.
