I went ahead and bought the 27-inch iMac while it was still around. You can still find some new ones. After Apple introduced the 27-inch Studio Display, which was basically the same price as an iMac but without the iMac- while retaining essentially the same panel, it seemed that Apple was suggesting that they won’t be replacing the 27-inch iMac with an M-model. Interesting tidbit: compiling an Unity engine game on my iMac 27 Intel with 8GB RAM is quicker than compiling the same game on my M1 Max with 16GB RAM. By compiling, I mean once in Unity and then again in Xcode to run the project on my iOS device.
