A great list. I'd like to add #9: Look at how they think other people behave. Most people assume other people's motivations are similar to their own. So someone who is paranoid about small time thieves might be assuming that other people will do what they would consider. (Of course, their paranoia could be due to personal experience, so some judgement is necessary!)
