I'm wearing my Worldcoin socks today (they're a cool design) that they gave out in Bogota but there are some serious issues with their approach.
From talking with them, they're working almost exclusively on the hardware. Reading between the lines, this tells me that eye scanning may not be the absolute answer to Proof of Personhood they thought it was.
Secondly, for trying to create a universal currency that can serve all humanity, they don't allow any democratic control of the supply. As far as I could tell, these kind of things aren't even on the radar of the people that work there.
IMO, if there's going to be a cryptocurrency that serves humanity, it must begin with an institution of humans that operates policy openly and inclusively, building a new democracy around its distribution. I've considered cribbing the US Constitution to make a document that outlines an institution that does this.
