UK’s online censorship bill has amendment that targets non-citizens
- mytailorisrich 4y agoIt's not that it targets 'non-citizens', it's that the amendment targets content which is obviously intended for people outside of the UK. So unless that content is hosted in the UK this amendment has no effective value whatsoever. This is political hand-waving, really. Every time you see something proposed for a very narrow and specific issue you can be sure that whoever is putting it forward is going for the purpose of political games. The MP I see named in the excerpt used to be "Minister for Children" so she may want to be seen as making sure people "think of the children" because "it's incredibly important, and I'm an expert" kind of angle. It may get her a few minutes of national TV time.
