the author seemed really mean-spirited. maybe I'm just sensitive because I'm trans myself, but he discovered her background, played it over and over for shock value, outed her to the people he met and finally to the world in this article. that's just a really ugly and bigoted thing to do, and the author didn't need to do it. it sounds like Dr. V had a personality disorder, but I do worry that the author contributed to her suicide, and hope that he's haunted by that.
