Firefox found a way to keep ad-blockers working with Manifest V3
- nathanaldensr 4y agoRunning network-level ad blocking software like Pi-hole is pretty much a requirement nowadays, especially on a LAN with many devices that may not be able to run browser extensions or don't use browsers to begin with.
- rejectfinite 4y agoI found the opposite. Less of a hassle to install ublock origin in Firefox on PC, Mac, and Android that support it, or Brave browser on iOS or the others for a chromium browser. Rather than keeping a separate device on the network, having to keep it updated, it was also unstable on a rpi when I tried a couple of years ago. I guess my TV shows YouTube ads, but that's kinda it. Netflix, HBO, Disney+ do not have ads and my LGTV Web OS seems Ad free in the menus without me doing anything.
- sovok_x 4y agoI agree with the above. Having a local adblocker turned better for me as I could temporary disable it if some site breaks due to it or quickly add a rule if it missed something, while a separate device is just a hassle to debug or you need to depend on the projects' maintainers for that.
- Alifatisk 4y agoIt’s easy too! Just run the container and you’re all set.
