Background: I am a software eng for pay and oil painter by hobby. Been painting about six years now. My advice? Just “do it.” If that means you nerd about oils and easels and tools.. cool! If that means you start out drawing a box (drawabox.com) and with pencil? Cool! Art is never “a failure.” Just remind yourself it’s all healthy and learning.
