The easiest thing (not only 100% free, but potentially even results in significant cost-savings in a few ways) that companies can do is allow for a more flexible work environment. Whether it's choosing your working hours (some people are early birds and some are not) or giving more flexibility as far as remote/hybrid choices, people are happier when they have a life-work balance not a work-life balance. Maybe you need some common "office hours" to have a chance to talk and bounce ideas off of people, but otherwise you should trust that smart people and well-run teams know what they have to do and will get it done.
